Medicinal and Aromatic Plants
Ethio Agri-CEFT Plc cultivates medicinal and aromatic plants at Bir, Ayehu and Holeta Farms. The area under the medicinal and aromatic plants was 50 hectares. These plants include such as flowers (e.g. rose, lavender), leaves (e.g. citronella, lemongrass), leaves and stems (e.g. mint, lemon verbena, sweet marjoram, geranium, rosemary).
Our company is involved in processing essential oils (such as palmarosa, lemongrass, spearmint, citronella) and herbal teas (such as hibiscus, chamomile, lemon verbena, spearmint and moringa) using essential oil steam distiller imported from India. The steam distiller has the capacity more than six quintals at one batch. In addition, we have also a laboratory in Addis Ababa to ensure the quality of our products. Our products are used in food processing, soap, cosmetic and pharmaceutical units.
Hibiscus: Hibiscus is a genus of flowering plants in the mallow family, Malvaceae.
Mint: Mint is a fast-growing, aromatic herb plant in the Mentha genus.
Chamomile: is an herb that comes from the daisy-like flowers of the Asteraceae plant family.
Lemon Grass: The leaves and the oil are used to make medicine.
citronella: a fragrant natural oil used as an insect repellent and in perfume and soap manufacture.
Rosmary: The herb contains substances that are useful for improving digestion and increasing circulation..
Sweet Marjoram: used as an herbal medicine and contains several compounds that may offer health benefits.
Lemon Verbena: has a bright, slightly sweet, herbaceous flavor with a distinct hint of lemon.
Stevia: part of the Asteraceae family, related to the daisy and ragweed.
Thyme: Thyme is the herb of some members of the genus Thymus of aromatic perennial evergreen herbs in the mint family Lamiaceae.
